Welcome to York River Baptist Church’s Sunday School Department! We are privileged to have you in our classes and to assist in your continued growth in the knowledge and love of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
The Mission Objective of the Sunday School Department is to help teach each student to:
Associate God, Jesus and Holy Bible with Daily Living;
Recognize the Holy Bible as the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit
Think of church as the Living Embodiment of Christ – a Joyous Union of Believers;
Develop a positive feeling of Spiritual Self-worth;
Make progress in solving problems, sharing and expressing oneself;
Begin to show love, respect, and acceptance for others.
Divisions’
Preschool;
Our Preschool Division is open to children from birth through kindergarten or ages birth through five years.
The preschool division utilizes age appropriate curriculum approved by the Sunday School Council. We presently use curriculum available through LifeWay® Christian Stores or Gospel Light™. Take home books and pages are provided and encouraged to be used by parents to help reinforce the Bible truths taught in Sunday School. Top...
Children;
Our Children’s Division is open to children from first through fifth grade or ages six through ten years.
The Children’s division also utilizes age appropriate curriculum approved by the Sunday School Council. We presently use curriculum available through LifeWay® Christian Stores or Gospel Light™. Take home books and pages are provided and encouraged to be used by parents to help reinforce the Bible truths taught in Sunday School. Top
Youth;
Our Youth Division is open to youth from sixth through twelfth grade sub – grouped into middle and high school youths.
The middle school group "Juniors for Jesus" is open to youth from sixth through eighth grade or ages eleven through fourteen years. The high school group is open to youth from ninth through twelfth grade or from fifteen through eighteen. The Youth division utilizes age and gender appropriate curriculum approved by the Sunday School Council. We presently use curriculum available through LifeWay® Christian Stores or Gospel Light™. Extended Care;
Our extended care unit extends preschool services through the worship hour. Affording worship opportunities to our young families. Children from birth through five years are welcome to experience God's great love through age appropriate worship apart from the formality of adult services. Top
Staffing;
All classes shall be staffed by trained and certified adult instructors. The lead instructor of each class must be at least twenty-one years of age and shall have met all youth protection requirements. For further information please see our Youth Protection Guidelines. Top
